In commemoration of the former site of the all black Colonial Elementary School.
The first new building devoted to colored education in St. James Parish.
Trailblazers responsible for the establishment of Colonial Elementary School are Dr. & Mrs. George P. Meade and Mrs. Tamer J. Cooper-Moore
As teacher, principal, and a mother away from home, they possessed a special love for all children.
