Inscription.

In 1839, this British-made nine-pound cannon was purchased in Utica to properly sound off 4th of July celebrations in Ogdensburg. It was also fired for other celebrations, including the arrival of the first train over the Northern Railroad in 1850, General Lee's surrender in 1865, and our Nation's Centennial in 1876.
