Hospice of Quinze-Vingts
Touched by the distress of the blind of Paris, Saint Louis had a hospice built here in 1260 to accommodate 15 times 20 of them, or 300. Tradition dictates that some of those treated here had had their eyes gouged out by Muslims in Egypt during The Seventh Crusade. Eudes

of Montreuil built the chapel, erected as a church parish church of 1282 and bordered by a cemetery. Undertaken from 1748 by Labbé and Martin, the reconstruction of the buildings, then crumbling with dilapidation, was still not finished in 1772 when the work was stopped.

The hospice was then transferred to the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, in the barracks of the black musketeers of the Rue de Charenton, and the Cardinal de Rohan put the land and buildings up for sale.
