1. Foster Marker
Inscription.
Colonel David N. Foster, a veteran of Gettysburg and Fredericksburg, gave us modern Fort Wayne. Through his creating of the Park Board in 1905, to his leadership of the City Beautiful Movement, from his creation with famed urban architect Georg Kessler of our Park and Boulevard System he transformed our city from willy-nilly into a planned collection of parks and streets that gave every resident a nearby bit of green retreat and grand thoroughfares. He built Rudisill Boulevard and laid out Anthony and State boulevards as Park Department projects. He gave us the sprawling Foster Park, envisioned Headwaters Parks and riverside development, and fostered the dynamic park system we have today. The Colonel built his final home at 902 West Rudisill.
