Everett Wallace "Dutch" Bidwell

A Marine Rifleman first, Everett also trained and served as an Aviation Machinist Mate, Aircrew Gunner, and Chief Machinist of his plane. Serving in the Pacific Theater, he was wounded three times during the Battle of Midway; and, was later awarded the Purple Heart by Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz at a ceremony in Hawaii. He received two additional citations for actions beyond-the-call of duty. As a reservist, he was later recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict where he served stateside. Although he was known to have served at MCAS El Toro, CA at some point, other units he was assigned to during his service are unknown.
